The Bureau of Technology (BoT)

Our engineering department, known as the Bureau of Technology (BoT), is at the heart of Back Market. It consists of over 30 dynamic product teams developing and managing services to deliver value to customers and suppliers. These teams are supported by our Platform group, which includes more than 10 specialized teams addressing cross-cutting technical issues. We also have groups dedicated to sharing knowledge across disciplines like security, backend, frontend, AI, and mobile, fostering collaboration and professional development. Staff engineers provide leadership and technical guidance across the company, supporting growth beyond traditional management roles.

Role: Experienced Backend Engineer

Technical Challenges

Our stack is transitioning from a monolith to a distributed, service-oriented architecture, offering opportunities to modernize our platform. Building efficient, loosely coupled services is a key challenge, with teams managing their own releases, data, SLAs, and tools. Platform teams aim to provide a scalable, secure platform to boost productivity. Your challenges include understanding system architecture, organizational structure, scoping solutions for new features, and offering pragmatic, critical solutions.

Responsibilities

Build and operate efficient, high-cohesion, low-coupling services with security and privacy by default. Work in an agile environment, building, launching, monitoring, and supporting your products. Produce clean, well-organized code, support colleagues, and foster a learning environment. English proficiency is required for our international team.
