A leading aluminum packaging manufacturer is seeking an EHS Manager to oversee all environmental, health, and safety programs. This role includes implementing and managing EHS initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety obligations, and promoting a positive safety culture. Candidates should have significant EHS management experience and a relevant qualification. This position is located in La Selva del Camp, Spain.

Formación

  • Minimum 3 years of managerial EHS experience in manufacturing or similar industries.
  • At least 5 years of EHS working experience.
  • Experience managing fire safety and insurance risks.

Responsabilidades

Position overview:

The EHS Manager will manage the plant's environmental, health, and safety (EHS), fire safety, and property protection (FSPP) sustainability programs to ensure the safety and well-being of all workers and protection of the environment. This role will provide advice and guidance to plant management on EHS, FSPP, sustainability issues, and with proactive management of EHS and FSPP risks to ensure the plant meets its compliance obligations and Ball requirements and implements best practices. Coordinate EHS activities, including EHS management systems (ISO and ASI) (certified where applicable). Accountable for rolling out Ball EHS BOE and sustainability initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. In collaboration with Plant leadership team and Regional EHS, drive delivery of PHC and Global Ball Operational Excellence (BOE) EHS strategy, KPIs, and programs through identification, implementation, and monitoring of local initiatives.
  2. Develop and implement Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) and proactive reporting and engagement initiatives such as near miss, hazard, and good catch to promote safe behaviors and develop a positive safety culture.
  3. Identify and ensure compliance with EHS obligations (e.g., laws, regulations, permits, licenses) and stakeholder requirements (e.g., FSPP insurance).
  4. Ensure plant management and workers are aware of, take ownership of, and deliver on their EHS responsibilities.
  5. Implement hazard identification and risk assessment programs reflecting hazards during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions, applying the hierarchy of control, incorporating Ball BOE, LiFE, and hazard mapping.
  6. Identify and assess environmental aspects and manage significant impacts under various conditions, including emissions, waste, water, wastewater, energy, and VOCs.
  7. Manage the reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis of EHS incidents and complaints, overseeing corrective actions including global reporting via Enablon and Alerts.
  8. Implement monitoring and inspection programs to ensure compliance with regulations, permits, management systems, and procedures.
  9. Collaborate with functional department leaders to develop and implement EHS programs and systems to manage risks and drive continuous improvement.
  10. Maintain integrated EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001), oversee audits, surveys, management reviews, and follow up on corrective actions.
  11. Implement occupational and industrial hygiene, health, and well-being programs in consultation with HR and external providers.
  12. Act as primary liaison with regulatory authorities, external stakeholders (e.g., insurers, auditors), and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient communication and compliance.
  13. Coordinate EHS activities with other functional leads such as HR, Engineering, Maintenance, and Production.
What are we looking for?
  • Relevant EHS qualification (minimum diploma or local equivalent) or engineering qualification with at least 3 years of managerial EHS experience in manufacturing or similar industries.
  • At least 3 years of EHS management experience with proactive engagement on the shop floor and comprehensive knowledge of EHS risks.
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS working experience.
  • Deep knowledge of EHS legislative requirements and experience implementing Behavioral-Based Safety programs.
  • Experience managing fire safety and property protection insurance risks.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
