About your opportunity

We are seeking an Engineering Team Lead with an active-oriented mindset and a focus on building a quality team and product. The Engineering Team Lead will report to the Head of Engineering and will be responsible for managing the engineers on their team, driving accountability within their team, and overseeing the team’s output. They will assist in planning and delivering projects, communicate progress, milestones, and roadblocks to stakeholders and management, and empower engineers to make impactful contributions aligned with company goals while supporting their professional growth. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of our tools, industry trends, experience managing teams or projects, and strong communication skills. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and emotional intelligence are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineering Management, Operations, and Product teams to develop and execute team objectives and strategies.
• Lead technical planning for projects within their domain.
• Maintain team velocity, ensure quality, and drive accountability.
• Organize regular meetings with the team, including planning sessions, 1-1s, and stand-ups.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to management.
• Lead meetings with external stakeholders as needed.
• Advocate for team needs, such as technical debt reduction and infrastructure improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and conduct code reviews.
• Offer regular feedback and contribute to performance evaluations.
• Assist engineers with debugging and complex tasks.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding processes.
• Support personal development goals of team members.
• Lead effort estimation and deployment processes.

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering projects / products to large user bases.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience (4+ years industry experience in contribution and management).
• Experience with technologies : NodeJS, React, RabbitMQ, SOAP / REST APIs, JVM languages, Kafka, ELK Stack.
• Knowledge of data storage : PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, Druid / Superset.
• Experience in the travel industry is a plus.
• Ability to select appropriate technologies and evaluate their pros and cons for problem-solving.
