Zynga is looking for an Engineering Manager in the Barcelona area, and more specifically, someone whose experience can allow them to both manage engineers as a lead, as well as execute on coding tasks. We have a well-rounded, and tight-knit, distributed team with a healthy mix of engineering skill levels, and are looking to strengthen our team in tackling the challenges of developing important features.
The ideal candidate should possess experience surpassing that of a Senior Software Engineer 2, with at least four years as an Engineering Manager. Additionally, it is preferable for the candidate to have a minimum of eight years of experience working with teams in the gaming industry.

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for games, outstanding process skills, awesome people skills, a high level of integrity, great technical depth, and a strong desire to build successful engineering teams. You would have an opportunity to lead a pod of engineers on the team, while also contributing to user-facing features (including UI / UX) and game engine systems, plus help solve challenging problems for high profile titles.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage a pod of engineers on the team on a daily basis, both in their tasks as well as morale, career growth and future planning
- Assist with feature & systems implementation (and bugs) in Unity with C#
- Help to define and scope out tasks, systems, and timelines
- Help to review and contribute to engineering architectures
- Help to monitor and improve engineering process
Desired Skills and Experience
- 4+ Years experience as an Engineering Manager
- 8+ Years game industry experience as a Software Engineer
- Experience with live operations on backend server infrastructure
- Good working knowledge in Unity & C#
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software methodologies
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative environment
- Ability to build, manage, mentor and lead multiple teams of engineers.
- Able to work collaboratively with engineering stakeholders including design, user experience, product and analytics teams.
Bonus Skills and Experience
- Experience with git
- Mobile development experience with a focus on iOS and/or Android
- Server experience is a plus; for example, web service integration, application server performance, or data analytics.
- Strives for perfection in the development process including planning, time and quality estimation, problem solving, and communicating development status.
- Updates knowledge constantly. Always learning and seeking to learn
