What you'll do

  • Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team
  • Set and manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
  • Participate in leadership team and collaborate across organization
  • Contribute to engineering processes through code and architecture reviews
  • Engage with Canonical teams, open source community, and partners
  • Oversee quality of Ubuntu Server image family
  • Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features
  • Work remotely with global travel up to 6 weeks/year for events

Who you are

  • You love developing and growing people with a strong track record
  • You have 3+ years of experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers; distributed team management is a plus
  • You focus on success and delivering high-quality software on time
  • You have experience in agile development environments
  • You hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
  • You possess strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
  • You have experience with modern GNU/Linux distributions, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
  • You have practical experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS
