By building a new kind of payment network — one based on trust, transparency, and putting people first — Affirm empowers millions of consumers to spend and save responsibly and gives thousands of businesses the tools to fuel growth.**What you'll do**- Build, grow and lead an inclusive, diverse, and distributed team of hardworking engineers and data scientists responsible for solving new and challenging problems around eCommerce payments, credit issuance and settlement, fraud detection and SaaS integration.- Provide technical leadership in building foundational systems for model serving, monitoring and operations.- Lead by example, care for your team and establish credibility with the quality of the team's technical execution.- Lead multi-functional projects through close collaboration with multiple engineering, technical program management, analytics teams, and product managers on tools, architecture, planning, and delivery of multiple concurrent projects.- Provide leadership and growth opportunities to your team members, develop talent, mentor engineers, recruit and represent Affirm's hiring brand.**What we look for**- Minimum 2 years of experience leading a robust engineering team with a focus on data science and machine learning.- Solid leadership,communication skills and driving inclusive discussions.- Good experience in attracting, growing and retaining top engineering and data science talent.- Strong stakeholder management skills with a deep interest in helping other teams tackle technical challenges by aligning strategic roadmaps where necessary.- Experience working optimally with one or more engineering teams as a customer and engineering leaders.- Extensive management or tech-lead experience building and owning highly scalable & resilient model serving pipelines, APIs and large-scale parallel processing inference systems.- Proficiency in machine learning and operations research with experience in areas such as classification, function approximation and optimization.- Strong programming skills in Python.- Experience using Machine Learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, xgboost, or PyTorch- Strong experience with relational and non relational databases, including SQL- Experience using large-scale distributed data processing systems like Spark- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Flink, and Airflow is a plus- Experience with AWS and/or other cloud providers is a plus.- Eager to learn new things and have a growth mindset.- Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication.- BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field.**Location - Remote Spain**LI-RemoteAll full-time jobs at Affirm (excluding interns and apprentices) are tied to a transparent grade-based pay range taking location into account.**Inclusivity**:At Affirm, People Come First is one of our core values, and that's why diversity and inclusion are vital to our priorities as an equal opportunity employer.
