The Challenge

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join the Managed Marketplace Tribe. Our mission is to create a trustworthy environment where users feel confident initiating transactions and are fully supported in completing them—whether buying or selling. This includes resilient orchestration of critical services like payments and logistics operations. You’ll guide teams in delivering high-quality software, foster a culture of growth and collaboration, and ensure strong alignment through clear vision, efficient processes, and effective communication.

What You Will Do

1. Ensure meetings are effective
2. Coach people & the organization
3. Implement process improvements
4. Have regular one-on-ones with engineers, where you will:
5. Set expectations, provide regular feedback & keep team members accountable (Conduct performance reviews)
6. Develop a strong two-way feedback loop where you share organizational context and build a deep understanding of the engineer and how they work
7. Support engineers and help reach resolution when challenges arise
8. Craft a fulfilling and engaging work experience through regular career growth and development conversations
9. Participate in hiring and onboarding of engineers

What We’re Looking For

• You have experience leading engineering teams (Ideally +2 years)
• You have very strong verbal English communication skills (Spanish is a plus)
• You are comfortable with participatory management/servant leadership
• Positive attitude, excellent problem-solving, and critical thinking
• Quality-driven, attention to detail, and pragmatic
• Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and eagerness to learn

What Would Be A Plus

• Previous exposure to Tribes & Squads
• Background in the payments domain
• Experience working on C2C (consumer-to-consumer) products

Note that all our jobs are Barcelona-based. We follow a hybrid model with flexibility; a minimum of 6 days per month in the office. Each team self-organizes to decide cadence and in-person/remote rituals.

The hiring process

All interviews are remote via Hangouts:

1. Intro Call - run by talent acquisition, focusing on role, company, experience, motivation, and expectations. Duration: 45-60 minutes.
2. Technical Task - prepare a practical case to assess skills.
3. Expertise Interview - run by the core team, focusing on hard skills. Duration: 60-90 minutes.
4. Stakeholder Interview - run by the hiring team and relevant stakeholders, focusing on collaboration and leadership skills. Duration: 60 minutes.
5. Culture-Add Interview - run by culture interviewers, focusing on alignment with Wallapop's purpose. Duration: 60 minutes.
6. Offer - discussed over a call and confirmed in writing if selected.
