Summary

Are you ready to lead a dynamic team in one of the world's most vibrant locations? We are seeking a passionate, hands-on Engineering Assistant Manager. This role will assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring the efficient and economic operation of the Engineering Department, supporting all other operating Departments, and maintaining equipment, building, and grounds in optimum condition to uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency while fostering growth within the hotel industry.

The Engineering Assistant Manager will supervise and oversee the building's mechanical equipment and engineering staff. The role involves managing engineering operations and coordinating with Senior Managers to meet hotel needs, under the supervision of the Area Director of Engineering and Hotel General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-quality service to guests at all times.
  2. Promptly and efficiently address guest complaints and needs.
  3. Thoroughly understand emergency and safety procedures.
  4. Respond effectively to emergencies and assist as needed.
  5. Order supplies, tools, and equipment, maintaining proper inventory levels.
  6. Support and implement the department's preventive maintenance program.
  7. Represent and support the Engineering Manager in their absence, confidently liaising with ownership, leadership, contractors, and other departments.
  8. Maintain the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for the hotel.
  9. Drive initiatives for energy efficiency and sustainability.
  10. Perform equipment checks and log maintenance activities.
  11. Attend daily operations meetings.
  12. Supervise engineering crews.
  13. Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of workspaces, shops, and storage areas.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform tasks involving carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling items up to 75 pounds.
  • Stand, move about the facility, handle objects, and perform physical tasks regularly.
  • Work in noisy environments, hot or cold temperatures, confined spaces, and at heights exceeding 4 feet, including ladder work.

Qualifications:

  1. College Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Building Management, or advanced technical vocational training preferred.
  2. Technical knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, fire systems, sprinklers, water/waste treatment, or hydraulics is advantageous.
  3. Effective troubleshooting skills.
  4. Minimum of 2+ years in a similar hotel role.
  5. Strong problem-solving, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and special projects is beneficial.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
