JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is for Hotelbeds, a technology company in the travel sector with a highly transactional platform handling 7 billion requests per day with sub-second response times. The platform is 100% cloud-based, operating in a multi-regional setup on AWS, ensuring scalability, resilience, and global reach. The role is part of the IT Development team, composed of nearly 300 multidisciplinary professionals with expertise in backend and frontend technologies.

We are looking for a highly experienced Engineer Lead with a strong background in full stack development, microservices architecture, and scalable enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in backend and frontend technologies, with a proven track record of delivering mission-critical applications in agile environments.

The Engineer Lead will contribute hands-on to the development of high-quality solutions and provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other engineers. A strong understanding of UI development using modern Angular and JavaScript frameworks, as well as microservices built with Java, is essential.

Experience in writing decoupled, testable code and working with automated test suites is expected. Familiarity with code quality metrics—such as technical debt analysis and code coverage—is highly desirable. This role offers significant visibility and opportunities for professional growth and impact.

Responsibilities

• Accountability for the success of daily development meetings and other agile ceremonies.
• Perform coding assignments.
• Review code work for accuracy and functionality.
• Create and implement design plans.
• Analyze code segments regularly.
• Participate in the design phase of software with the Software Architect to plan and create standards and solutions.
• Stay updated with industry trends and technology developments.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
• Lead independently more than one team to deliver small to large epics.
• Act as a deputy PE.

Skills & Experience

8+ years of experience in computer programming or a similar field.

• Business domain knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
• Act as a technological reference, sharing knowledge within and outside the team, and participating in tech communities/events.

Tools & Technologies

• Proficient in advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Angular, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, DurandalJS, VUE.
• Experience with native, hybrid, or progressive web apps.
• Basic UI & UX design principles, prototypes, and scalability. HTML & CSS.
• High knowledge of Java 11+.
• Experience developing RESTful web APIs.
• Ability to work independently with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills in English & Spanish.
• Familiarity with Microservices Architectures using Spring Boot.
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL (including Aurora) or Oracle.
• Understanding caching and queueing technologies such as Redis & Kafka.
• Experience with testing best practices and automation.
• Technical analysis and design capabilities.
• Proficient in Git version control.
• Experience configuring and using CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with IDEs (preferably JetBrains tools).
• Frameworks: Spring Boot, Angular, React, Node.js.
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
• DevOps tools: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch Stack.
