Job summary

TRX seeks an experienced Energy Storage Systems Engineer for a Battery Energy Storage System project in Badajoz, Spain. You will work with project, electrical and commissioning teams to move the system from design through installation, testing and energisation.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 6+ years of experience in energy storage or electrical engineering, with hands-on BESS experience and on-site collaboration in Spain.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop BESS designs including battery systems, PCS, and grid components.
• Review diagrams, layouts, equipment specs and technical docs.
• Ensure designs meet project specs, standards and grid requirements.
• Support integration of battery systems, inverters and EMS.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors and site teams to resolve issues.
• Assist FAT/SAT, commissioning activities and energisation.
• Maintain technical docs, testing records and punch lists.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering, project and commissioning teams for delivery.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Energy Storage Systems Engineer to support the engineering, installation and delivery of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Badajoz, Spain. The successful candidate will work closely with project, electrical and commissioning teams to ensure the system progresses from design through installation, testing and energisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and develop BESS designs, including battery systems, Power Conversion Systems (PCS) and grid connection components.
• Review single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment specifications and technical documentation.
• Ensure system designs comply with project specifications, applicable standards and local grid connection requirements.
• Support the integration of battery systems, inverters and the Energy Management System (EMS).
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors and site teams to resolve technical issues.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Assist with commissioning activities, system testing and energisation.
• Maintain technical documentation, testing records and punch lists.
• Coordinate with electrical engineering, project management and commissioning teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in electrical engineering, energy storage or a related field.
• Proven hands‑on experience with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Strong understanding of battery systems, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), inverters and grid connection requirements.
• Strong technical documentation, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Spanish language skills are advantageous for coordination with local contractors on site.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Badajoz, Spain, for the 18-month contract duration.
