Job summary

The role requires a degree in electrical engineering and 3-5 years in renewable energy, with CAD experience and knowledge of grid integration.

Qualifications

The Green Recruitment Company is searching for a BESS Technical Lead to work in a leading consulting and engineering company supporting the development and delivery of utility-scale clean energy infrastructure projects across Europe.

They are seeking a BESS Technical Lead will provide technical leadership throughout the full lifecycle of energy storage projects, from early-stage feasibility and conceptual design through detailed engineering, delivery, and operational handover.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical development and engineering design of BESS projects, ensuring optimal solutions from both technical and commercial perspectives.
• Prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation, layouts, drawings, and engineering packages.
• Support project execution activities by monitoring technical quality, progress, and compliance throughout delivery.
• Act as the technical owner for BESS layouts, ensuring alignment with applicable regulations, standards, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with project, procurement, development, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Evaluate equipment suppliers and support technical due diligence, specification reviews, and contract negotiations.
• Drive continuous improvement by developing engineering methodologies, tools, templates, and technical standards across the project portfolio.
• Contribute to lessons-learned processes and help implement best practices across multiple projects.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy, energy storage, power systems, or related infrastructure sectors.
• Strong understanding of BESS technologies, electrical systems, grid integration, and utility-scale energy projects.
• Experience working with engineering design tools and CAD software.
• Knowledge of permitting processes and technical documentation requirements is advantageous.
• Exposure to project delivery environments, EPC contractors, utilities, or renewable energy developers is highly desirable.
• Professional certifications in project management (PMP, IPMA, or equivalent) and systems engineering are considered a plus.
