Job summary

CAE is seeking engineers to join its embedded software team, tackling complex challenges and advancing mission-ready capabilities for the CF-18.

Join CAE's multidisciplinary team to contribute across the software lifecycle, from investigations to in-service support, collaborating with Canadian Armed Forces and pilots.

This full-time, hybrid role requires 2–3 days per week at Mirabel with occasional Saint-Laurent visits; engineers work about 40 hours weekly with standard core hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, electrical, aeronautical, software, computer, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Up to two years of relevant experience.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing about technical subjects in English or French.
• Ability to work collaboratively with limited supervision.
• Ability to learn new technologies, systems, and technical concepts independently.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
• Ability and willingness to work on defence systems involving military aircraft, armament, and related mission capabilities.
• Eligibility for registration in Canada's Controlled Goods Program.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status and Level II Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to projects that optimize the operational effectiveness of the CF-18.
• Develop mission-computer capabilities in armament, communications, tactics, information processing, and human-machine interfaces.
• Participate in technical investigations and discuss potential solutions with clients and operational specialists.
• Define and analyze system and software requirements.
• Contribute to design, modelling, programming, integration, testing, debugging, and software qualification activities.
• Collaborate directly with operational specialists, including CF-18 pilots, and members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
