Octagon Group in Madrid, Spain seeks an Embedded Software Lead to own the software architecture for a cutting-edge space propulsion system. You will oversee the full firmware lifecycle across flight-critical systems and lab automation, while leading a team of embedded engineers.

The role requires hands-on experience with bare-metal and RTOS, strong C/C++, and a drive to push modern software practices in a high-tech space environment. Remote work up to 10 days per month is available.

Formación

• 7+ years of embedded software experience with leadership/mentoring.
• Strong C and C++ experience.
• Hands-on bare-metal and RTOS experience, ideally FreeRTOS.
• Knowledge of MCUs and low-level protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, PWM).
• Python for automation and testing.
• Git and CI/CD experience.
• Ability to read PCB schematics.

Responsabilidades

• Own the embedded software architecture from bare-metal through to RTOS.
• Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers.
• Drive the migration from legacy 8-bit firmware to a modern 32-bit RTOS architecture.
• Develop verification strategies, HIL testing and CI/CD for embedded systems.
• Work closely with hardware engineers on propulsion and laboratory systems.
• Help shape software that will support real spaceflight.

You’ll lead the full software lifecycle across flight-critical firmware, laboratory automation and EGSE, while also leading and developing a team of embedded engineers.

• Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers
• Drive the migration from legacy 8-bit firmware to a modern 32-bit RTOS architecture

• Help shape software that will ultimately support real spaceflight

• 40 hours per week
• 23 days holiday + 6 additional Christmas days
