Overview

Electrical Rail Systems Engineer (Grounding & Bonding and Stray Currents) - join AECOM in Madrid.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer specialized in the design and calculations of the Grounding and Bonding system, Stray Currents control and mitigation, and the lightning protection system in a railway project. The AECOM Enterprise Capabilities Rail Systems team in Madrid has extensive experience designing railway systems for projects around the world.

Responsibilities

• Develop plans and guidelines for Grounding & Bonding (G&B), Stray Currents, and Lightning Protection systems.
• Develop interfaces with other project disciplines (power systems, civil structures, track, etc.).
• Produce design documentation for all project stages, including design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate and attend meetings with clients or other parties to defend and justify the design.
• Coordinate with construction on technical issues that arise on site.
• Develop electrical calculations to justify that the design is safe.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in railway systems projects.
• At least 3 years of experience in G&B, lightning protection, or stray currents design.
• Experience with CENELEC, Canadian and American standards (NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, AREMA, CSA).
• Clear command of English.
• Experience using ETAP software for G&B and Lightning Protection design; knowledge of other software is a plus.

Valuable / Preferred Qualifications

• EMC control and management knowledge.
• Other experience or knowledge on railway power systems.
• Site experience.
• Experience in system safety activities (RAMS).
• Experience in leading a project team.

Education and Licensure

• MSc in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
• Licensed Engineer in the US, Canada, UK or Australia valued positively.
