There is a growing trend in new military and civil aircraft towards more electric or fully electric aircraft designs. The all-electric airplane offers advantages such as improved efficiency, reduced weight and volume, and lower environmental impact.
Traditional generation systems are being replaced by new architectures of high-power generators, capable of operating in starter/generator mode, and potentially replacing combustion engines with distributed electric propulsion systems.
