An advanced technology and engineering company is seeking an Electrical Engineer to manage construction quality assurance for a major project in Port of Spain. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and seven years of experience in similar projects. Strong knowledge of international codes and a security clearance are required. Formación

Overview

WORK LOCATION: Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago (U.S. Embassy)

PROJECT DURATION: 48 MONTHS WITH EXPECTED FOLLOW-ON WORK WITHIN THE DoS PROGRAM

Responsibilities
  • Functioning as the Electrical Engineer, providing OBO/Port of Spain a full range of critical engineering and construction quality assurance and management and technical oversight of the Port of Spain NEC
  • Performing technical inspections of electrical work, monitoring the contractor's quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance
  • Supporting and assisting OBO/Port of Spain in ensuring the completion of the project in accordance with contract requirements, ensuring that the contractor is performing the required contract work in accordance with the design documents
  • Reading design/construction drawings and understanding design narratives and calculations, reviewing engineering shop drawings and determining if the contractor has complied with the final design parameters
  • Observing onsite construction and determining if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly
  • Performing quality assurance tasks, ensuring contractor's work is properly inspected and corrective actions take place, ensuring materials meet contract, reviewing contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements, and resolving conflicts
  • Monitoring the construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety program, observing onsite construction and determining if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly
  • Monitoring construction progress vis-à-vis the project schedule and submitting weekly progress reports with recommendations based on the technical review of project documents and field inspections
  • Performing technical inspections of the electrical elements of the project
  • Understanding and interpreting drawings in his/her discipline and have an understanding of the principals of his/her discipline and how it fits in with other disciplines
  • Developing working knowledge of all technical requirements of project
  • Providing Quality Assurance for ongoing construction project
  • Reviewing contractor submittals
  • Preparing responses to Requests for Information (RFI)
  • Evaluating proposed submittal substitutions with engineering implications; making recommendations to the Project Director
  • Coordinating the development of Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) for modifications and change orders
  • Reviewing and evaluating design calculations and data from an engineering perspective
  • Preparing Monthly Progress Report summarizing project status, with emphasis on engineering

FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON AWARD

Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience required on construction projects of similar scope and value to the project supported by this Task Order
    • Design office experience shall not count toward an employee’s experience, a Professional Engineering License (PE) is acceptable in lieu of a degree, overseas experience is preferred
  • Must have Final Secret, Interim Top Secret (TS), or Final TS security clearance issued by Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) at the time of consideration
  • Knowledge of International Codes required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Project Director
Desired Skills
  • Specific experience with high and low voltage equipment, as well as telephone and fire alarm systems desired

SRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE U.S. CITIZENSHIP AS WELL AS, A U.S. GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE AT THE SECRET LEVEL WITH TOP SECRET ELIGIBILITY
