Business Process Engineer - Europe

We are seeking a Business Process Engineer – Europe to join our team at the new Barcelona European Service Center (BESC) in Barcelona, Spain. The Center will deliver high-quality support services for Americold operations across Europe. By leveraging best practices and technology, we aim to foster a collaborative environment that promotes growth and development. This role is vital to support Americold’s expansion throughout Europe.

The Business Process Engineer - Europe will ensure the success of EU facilities by testing systems that establish best practices and standardized operations. Additionally, the role involves planning and executing seamless WMS conversions with minimal operational impact, working closely with IT, and coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on-site. The position will collaborate with Warehouse Management System (WMS) Configuration, Training, and Support teams to optimize WMS processes and improve work efficiency in both office and warehouse environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support major EU WMS and other system conversions across EU sites to ensure smooth launches without system failures affecting turn times and customer service, in collaboration with local operations teams and regional leadership.
  • Assist Systems Project Managers and leadership during launches and conversions, including development, configuration, hardware deployment, bug tracking, resolution, and training.
  • Support EU facility launches and go-live periods during ramp-up (typically 3-6 months), overseeing process and training rollouts to ensure seamless operations; hand over best practices, training materials, automation testing, and tested systems to prevent service disruptions.
  • Design test scenarios and scripts, and schedule UAT resources for all go-lives and support activities.
  • Contribute to the scope and design improvements of legacy WMS systems and support ROI documentation.
  • Champion WMS improvements and represent the business in future development initiatives.
  • Develop, maintain, and document all WMS processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Americold Operating System standards, working closely with regional leadership and operations. This includes SOPs and site or customer-specific processes.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering (required)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (required)
  • Willingness to travel 60-75% of the time, including extended periods during new business go-lives (required)
  • Experience with launching large systems, WMS conversions, go-lives, and implementing warehouse systems and labor management systems
  • Experience working in multicultural environments with change management importance
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), WMS, LMS
  • Technical skills in Process Mapping, Industrial Engineering, management, and costing
  • Ability to lead and manage multicultural teams
