Our Linux Performance team is a specialized group that improves the performance and efficiency of Akamai's Intelligent Platform. Our Linux Engineering team provides Linux kernel and operating system innovation for the Akamai global distributed network (300,000+ servers deployed in 1000+ networks across 100+ countries).

As a Principal Software Engineer, your responsibilities include :

• Analyzing system performance, identifying issues, designing, developing, and implementing solutions
• Extending metrics collection and creating visualizations to quantify system performance
• Building tools to identify performance problems faster
• Training other engineers to recognize performance issues
• Collaborating across teams to implement solutions

What You Need to Succeed

• 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience
• Extensive programming experience in C, with knowledge of Python, Bash, or Perl
• Deep understanding of Linux OS and computer system architectures
• Experience with virtualization technologies (Qemu, KVM, Xen, etc.)
• Experience with performance analysis tools like Linux perf, bcc tools, etc.
• Knowledge of concurrent programming, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
• Proficiency with network protocols such as IP, IPv6, TCP, UDP
