Accounting Manager - Full Time - Madrid, Spain

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our GF_Finance & Controlling, Accounting team in Spain. The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and controlling the Accounting processes performed in the Center of Excellence (CoE). The professional acts as the Manager for the accounting staff in the CoE while being responsible for ensuring that processes remain aligned, global process standards are “anchored,” any escalations are resolved, and mitigation procedures are defined and implemented. Key processes in scope for the CoE Accounting Manager are OTC (Management of Customer Master Data & Credit, Billing management, Customer inquiry & dispute management, Collections management), PTP (P-Card / T&E Card Administration), and Accounting reports.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Accounting teams in the CoE, ensuring high performance, development, and team cohesion.
  • Coordinate all country/cluster Accounting processes within the scope of the CoE.
  • Oversee the OTC / PTP processes in the CoE, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS standards, Sulzer directives, and the Sulzer Accounting Manual (SAM).

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Education and Experience: University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; 7-9 years of Accounting experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role; preferred experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
  • Coordination and Planning: Proficiency in coordinating and planning work for Accounting teams.
  • Accounting Expertise: Strong understanding of OTC and PTP processes, general accounting principles, and financial reporting; RTR expertise is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for delivering key insights to senior leadership; excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, iScala) and accounting software; strong MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint) skills; experience with Tagetik and Qlik Sense is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English.
