Job Description :

The Repayments Nexus is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help build the tools and systems to allow our customers to repay their loans in the most convenient way possible. The group owns the end-to-end repayments consumer experience, from the “Manage” tab in our Affirm mobile app to Collections and Recoveries, and also manages the Comms Platform for transactional communications.

This role requires high technical capability, leadership skills, strong cross-functional communication, and a creative mindset.

What you’ll do

• Drive the evolution of our Repayments platform focusing on extensibility, robustness, and performance.
• Draft, review, and refine technical specifications. Participate in architectural reviews and collaborate with other tech leads.
• Help define the engineering strategy for the Repayments Nexus group based on broader strategies and product needs. Establish the technical roadmap.
• Partner with product and business teams to understand requirements and develop scalable, robust solutions.
• Build APIs and data models within micro-service and event-driven architectures. Create batch jobs for large data processing.
• Mentor engineers and support team growth and efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required.

What we look for

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into high-quality system designs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and architectural impacts on performance and maintainability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in asynchronous communication.
• Strong project management skills, organized, and able to communicate critical information effectively.
• Business impact focus, pragmatic project delivery.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including Product, Risk, Analytics.
• Experience with Python / Kotlin is a plus.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers.

Base Pay Grade - R

Equity Grade - Spain 7
