Descripción del empleo

Ops Engineer, MSP-CX DR, Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience

We are seeking an innovative and solutions-oriented Operations Engineer to be a part of our global effort to develop and deliver the next generation of world-class technology systems inside our fulfillment centers in Europe.

In the Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging Customer Experience (MSP-CX) organization, we work backwards from customer needs, representing their voice throughout the product lifecycle—from development to deployment, support, and service. Our mission is to transform stand-alone work-cells into end-to-end integrated solutions that are safe, easy to operate, maintain, deploy, and service, embodying Amazon’s leadership principles.

Successful candidates will have strong experience in technology development and testing with mechatronics equipment.

This position is responsible for planning the schedule, scope, and cost of large-scale fulfillment technology and robotics projects across Europe. As an Operations Engineer, your primary role is to coordinate and execute the definition, installation, commissioning, deployment, ramp-up, and support of MSP products in the field. You will drive continuous improvement in deployment cycle time, safety, quality, and productivity, and detail engineering design improvements for hardware engineering and product teams to simplify installation. You will develop project plans and technical solutions, which may include :

  • Strategic and tactical planning : defining technologies and planning installation of complex cross-functional projects impacting schedule, scope, cost, and performance, often across organizations or geographies, managing contractors and vendors.
  • Program / resource strategy : supporting annual resource and budget planning, defining deployment plans, standards, mechanisms, and continuous improvement goals to enhance deployment and machine performance.
  • Communication : conveying program execution and performance to stakeholders both verbally and in writing, consolidating inputs from multiple teams.
  • Travel : this role requires travel across Europe, potentially up to 75% or more.

Daily responsibilities include managing deployment project management, supporting product ramp-up, collaborating with hardware engineering, program managers, and internal customers like site maintenance and operations teams to ensure readiness, and managing project schedules and budgets. You will also engage in continuous improvement activities.

The MSP CX team maintains accountability in the field towards our internal customers—Maintenance, Operations, ACES, Process Engineering, GES Ops Engineering, etc.—enabling lifecycle management of MSP solutions across three pillars : (1) Quality Assurance, (2) Deployment & Ramp-up, and (3) Support. The team will focus on qualifying and testing MSP solutions, ensuring they meet customer requirements from early lifecycle stages through deprecation, and supporting on-site implementation activities from prototypes to general availability.

Qualifications include :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related STEM field.
  • Experience managing multiple large projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.).
  • Master’s degree in engineering, operations, supply chain, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, or similar tools.
  • Design and / or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions such as material handling, high-speed packaging, or manufacturing lines.
