Job Title: Project Manager & Technology Lead (Spanish Business Unit), Madrid

About the Role

At this pivotal moment of strategic transformation, our recruitment consultancy is seeking a Project Manager & Technology Lead to join one of our large multinational end clients. The company is undergoing a technical carve-out of its Spanish business unit, and the selected candidate will have the unique opportunity to lead the technology transformation of the Spanish market. This role is crucial for ensuring business continuity, optimizing systems, and adapting to new technological needs.

The successful candidate will become the key technology leader in Spain, with full autonomy to make decisions about tools, platforms, and systems, and will integrate into a highly regarded global organization where they will have the opportunity to shape the future technology infrastructure. This is a long-term leadership role that goes beyond a one-time project. You will be in charge of driving the digital future of the unit and playing a central role in a transformation that will have a global impact.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technology Leadership: Define IT strategy for the Spanish business unit, manage the technology carve-out, and ensure its long-term development.
  2. Decision-Making Authority: Autonomously decide on platforms, tools, and systems that meet business needs in Spain.
  3. Managing the IT Carve-Out: Lead the technical separation, oversee migration, replacement, and system optimization, ensuring minimal disruption.
  4. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with local and global stakeholders, including IT teams and senior leadership.
  5. Technology Solutions Management: Oversee implementation of technologies such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Dynamics 365, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
  6. Planning & Execution: Develop project plans, risk assessments, and resource plans for successful carve-out execution.
  7. Vendor Coordination: Work with external providers and system integrators for migration and decommissioning.
  8. Governance & Reporting: Establish governance, manage budgets, and report to stakeholders.
  9. Innovation & Continuity: Drive ongoing technological evolution to keep the business at the forefront of digital transformation.
  10. Compliance & Security: Ensure all IT activities comply with legal, security, and regulatory standards.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience with complex IT carve-out, M&A, or separation projects.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT, especially cloud tools and networking infrastructure.
  • Experience managing cross-functional and cross-border teams.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
