A leading company in reinsurance is seeking a Principal Engineer to enhance platform engineering culture. The role emphasizes compliance, security, and cost efficiency across cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in software engineering leadership and a strong understanding of Agile methodologies. This position offers the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives and inspire teams while ensuring adherence to industry standards.
As Principal Engineer in the Engineering CoE, you play a critical role in driving and enforcing a robust platform engineering culture. This role focuses on pushing standards and complexity into platforms rather than shifting them left to developers, thereby increasing productivity and reducing compliance costs. We aim for policy as code and compliance by design.
As a leader, you will champion shared responsibility models, ensuring clear delineation of duties between development, platform, and security teams, with a focus on productivity and fast issue resolution.
A strong focus on compliance and policy as code is paramount, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements like GDPR, HIPAA, and industry best practices. Securing platforms and applications requires deep understanding of security best practices and network architectures.
The Engineering CoE drives cost efficiency across cloud infrastructure, moving beyond lift-and-shift strategies towards truly cloud-native solutions. The cloud's elasticity should be leveraged. We also focus on automating testing, deployment, and configuration management, enabling engineers to concentrate on strategic tasks like design and monitoring. Your expertise is critical to this success.
The CoE defines development standards for Swiss Re and advises platform engineers to prioritize reliability, cost efficiency, and disaster recovery, ensuring scalability and optimal platform usage.
