The Company

Our client is a market leader with specialized products and solutions for the civil engineering, building construction, and building services sectors. As a market leader, the company is highly international with numerous subsidiaries and production sites in Europe, Asia, Australia, and America. The group employs more than 5000 employees worldwide and achieved more than one billion Euros annual turnover in 2023. The business is family-owned, financially sound, highly innovative, and expanding.

To further develop the business in Spain, our client is looking to fill the position of Building Materials who will have the operational as well as the commercial responsibility for the local subsidiary and will report to the regional manager.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Full operational and financial responsibility for the subsidiary for Iberia consisting of sales, business development, production, logistics, and administrative departments with a total of about 160 employees.
  2. Development and implementation of country business plans and strategies for short, medium, and long-term business development.
  3. Identifying and assessing new business opportunities and recommending appropriate measures to senior management.
  4. Setting targets for the entire unit as well as each subsidiary function.
  5. Conducting the annual planning process for the subsidiary and the sales region in coordination with the product management and senior management.
  6. Managing external relations to develop and maintain high-level contacts with industry and business associations, government agencies, interest groups, and key customers.
  7. Supporting corporate values by setting an example in personal integrity, team play, and shared responsibility across hierarchical levels.
  8. Timely and correct preparation of the regular reporting documents to the central controlling department and to senior management.

The ideal Candidate

  1. Incumbents should hold a university degree in commerce, business administration, or engineering and a proven track record in growing profitable B2B sales, preferably in the building materials industry.
  2. A different educational background is possible if the incumbent has a proven track record in a similar position.
  3. Strong sales background - at least ten years practical experience in B2B sales, preferably in the fields of building supplies or construction.
  4. At least five years experience in a managerial position.
  5. Fluency in English (verbal and written) is a must.
  6. A team-oriented yet assertive character with strong leadership abilities.
  7. Success-driven, innovative, and dynamic personality.
  8. Proven analytic, planning, and organization abilities.
  9. Strong customer-orientation.
  10. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  11. High degree of self-motivation and integrity are a must.
