About the role

This role involves providing legal advice to support the company's ongoing commercial success across all business units. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, supporting legal processes, mitigating risks, and negotiating contractual terms with suppliers and large enterprise or government clients, with a focus on GDPR compliance. The role reports to the Head of Legal and Compliance in Australia and supports the organization within the Group's governance and policies. This is a 12-month contract role to cover maternity leave.

Responsibilities

  1. Timely review and negotiation of contracts for the Soprano Group in Europe and LATAM, including:

- Customer service agreements (Managed Service Telecom Providers and SaaS)

- Supplier agreements (carriers, aggregators, technology providers)

- NDAs, Data Processing Addendums, Data Transfer Agreements

- Consulting services agreements

  1. Drafting and negotiating non-standard customer arrangements to minimize legal and commercial risks.
  2. Assisting sales with legal and regulatory responses during RFTs and customer surveys.
  3. Providing proactive legal advice on issues such as intellectual property, telecoms, and privacy law.
  4. Contributing to the development of new products and customer offerings, including service terms and policies.
  5. Managing litigation and advising on claims, including labor disputes.
  6. Improving legal processes, policies, and precedents.
  7. Managing outsourced legal services for litigation and disputes.
  8. Overseeing corporate management of legal entities and delegations of PoAs in assigned regions.
  9. Serving as the primary contact for international privacy matters, including GDPR compliance, with external DPO support.
  10. Advising on employment law, corporate, finance, and strategic initiatives.

Soprano may assign additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years’ post-qualified legal experience in a European jurisdiction, with top-tier law firm and relevant in-house experience.
  • Sound judgment and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Experience managing multiple demands, working under pressure, strong negotiation skills, and a solution-oriented approach.
  • Creative problem solver, calm under pressure, and capable of prioritizing effectively.
  • Full working rights in Spain.
