An opportunity for an Industrial Means Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). As a member of the Industrial Means team within the Manufacturing Engineering department, you will work with a team of engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and deliver critical production assets required to manufacture and assemble launcher components or satellites.
Accountabilities
Your main responsibilities will include :
- Manage industrial means packages (tooling, MGSE, machines, or autonomous systems) for entire programs, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards. Analyze project performance and identify potential improvements.
- Take technical responsibility for the design, coordination, and execution of tooling and MGSE needed for manufacturing, machining, assembly, testing, ground operations, and transportation of launchers and satellites developed by Space Systems Spain.
- Attend customer meetings (ESA, Ariane, etc.) and liaise with local or international suppliers, with occasional travel required.
- Fulfill the needs of internal and external stakeholders, considering inputs from Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Health and Safety, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics departments.
- Adapt to ramp-up profiles and serial production sequences, ensuring operational targets are met.
- Ensure maintenance activities are planned and ready before the industrial means are introduced into production.
- Support maintenance and production teams with technical expertise to ensure the reliability of the means.
- Deliver safe and ergonomic solutions to production or customers (MGSE).
- Contribute to program activities, including planning, proposals, CapEx, and budgeting.

Tasks
Your main tasks will include :
- Manage tenders, considering all stakeholder requirements, including technical, financial, quality, supply chain, and strategic aspects.
- Create technical specifications for various industrial means, from simple tools to complex autonomous systems.
- Evaluate supplier proposals and select based on technical and economic criteria.
- Manage acquisition milestones (KOM, PDR, CDR, CISS, CIPS, FA), ensuring quality through design analysis, stress testing, and verifications.
- Use CAD tools to develop concepts and perform GD&T analysis to ensure functionality.
- Manage suppliers to ensure delivery of assets (OT, OQ, OC).
- Assess proposed solutions from an H&S and ergonomics perspective.
- Lead troubleshooting and failure analysis activities.
- Conduct brainstorming sessions for complex requirements.
- Support workshops for initial use of delivered means.
- Set up and commission new manufacturing/assembly stations, ensuring stakeholder requirements are met.
- Modify existing means considering constraints and new requirements.
Required skills
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience :
- Degree in engineering or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and tooling.
- Design for manufacturing expertise.
- Experience with tooling suppliers is essential.
- Knowledge of tooling manufacturing processes.
- GD&T and tolerances analysis skills.
- Stress analysis knowledge is required; thermal analysis is a plus.
- Automation skills are desirable.
- Metrology skills (CMM, Laser tracker) are advantageous.
- Understanding of health and safety and ergonomics principles.
- Knowledge of CE directives related to industrial means.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish.
- High proficiency in CATIA.
- Experience in a production environment.
- Managing large assembly models and drawings.
- Proactive, dynamic, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Willingness to improve processes and quality.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
Additional requirements
- Willing to travel nationally up to 20%, with occasional international travel.
