Vueling Airlines SA is seeking a Social Media Specialist to lead the development of a new social media strategy. You will partner with the Social Media Manager to drive content, community engagement and performance across IG, TikTok, and YouTube, while managing campaigns with brand partners and sponsorships.

The role requires a data-driven, hands-on leader who can own projects from briefing to execution, measure impact, adapt quickly, and respond to reputational issues with sound judgment.

To achieve this, we are seeking a Social Media Specialist who, together with the Social Media Manager, will lead the development of a new innovative social media strategy, driving impactful change and elevating our brand to greater success worldwide.

This role requires a passionate and data-driven individual who can craft compelling content, build strong community relationships, and deliver impactful results across all major social platforms. This includes crafting platform-specific content strategies, producing impactful digital assets and maintaining a consistent, engaging tone of voice across all touchpoints. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with a hands‑on mindset, bringing strong social media expertise, sound judgement and the ability to take ownership of projects from briefing to execution, performance evaluation and crisis response when reputational risks or fast‑moving issues arise.

Tasks & responsibilities

Develop and execute Social Media Strategy:

• Partner with the Social Media Manager to shape and evolve Vueling’s global social media strategy across all markets.
• Translate business and communication objectives into clear channel, content, activation and measurement plans.
• Develop platform‑specific approaches, with a particular focus on IG, TikTok and YT.
• Take ownership of strategic projects and drive them forward with autonomy.
• Identify relevant trends, creators, formats and cultural opportunities for the brand.

Content Creation and Management:

• Coordinate social media agencies, content teams, community managers and external partners, ensuring strategic alignment, quality and timely delivery.
• Oversee the content calendar and the development of relevant, native content.
• Develop campaigns and content packages for Vueling’s sponsorships and brand partners (sports partners as FCB Femení, Athletic de Bilbao or music festivals as Cruïlla or BBK).
• Collaborate with internal teams and creative partners on campaigns, sponsorships and key brand activations.
• Support the coordination of influencer campaigns, from creator selection and briefing to content delivery and evaluation.
• Take a hands‑on role in adapting, creating or publishing content when required.
• Support real‑time coverage of key moments and activations, occasionally outside regular working hours.

Performance Tracking and Optimization:

• Contribute to the definition of KPIs, measurement frameworks and reporting processes.
• Monitor social media performance and turn data into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Coordinate reporting partners and ensure the quality and relevance of insights.
• Prepare and present performance updates and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.

Brand Advocacy and Reputation:

• Ensure a consistent and engaging brand presence across all social media channels.
• Use social listening to identify audience insights, opportunities, emerging issues, potential crisis triggers and reputational risks, ensuring early detection and timely escalation.
• Escalate sensitive issues, coordinate approved response flows and support social media crisis management alongside Communications, Customer Service, Operations and other relevant teams.
• Respond proactively and effectively to fast‑moving, out‑of‑plan or sensitive communications, applying clear judgement, speed and brand consistency under pressure.

Academic background

• Bachelor’s degree in advertising, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
• Experience working with international, e‑commerce or multi‑market brands.
• Experience delivering sponsorship activations or real‑time social media coverage.
• Working knowledge of video editing or graphic design tools.
• Track record in collaborations with relevant brands, influencers and industry leaders.

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in social media strategy or management, ideally within an agency or a major consumer‑facing brand.
• Proven experience developing and implementing social media strategies, from channel and content planning to execution, measurement and optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of Instagram and TikTok. Strong knowledge of YouTube and other key social platforms is highly valued.
• Experience coordinating social media and influencer marketing agencies, content teams and multiple stakeholders.
• Experience in the Spanish market is essential, while knowledge of the Catalan market is highly valued. Experience in the French or UK markets is a plus.
