Job Opportunity: Quantum Computing Researcher at Fujitsu Research of Europe

At Fujitsu Research of Europe (FRE), we combine research and industrial innovation to transform businesses and society. FRE is a multidisciplinary center that conducts research and innovation as part of Fujitsu’s global R&D activities, supporting our employees and achieving together. We are seeking a Quantum Computing (QC) Researcher to explore applications and algorithms that will enhance Fujitsu’s quantum computing offerings across various fields such as finance, healthcare, social infrastructure, and beyond.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research on quantum algorithms and applications of quantum computing
  • Collaborating with researchers from FRE, our overseas laboratories in Japan, India, or the USA, and external academic partners
  • Generating intellectual property and publishing work in top academic conferences and journals

This role will be based in the UK, with occasional international travel. You will report to both the local Group Manager at FRE and the Project Director at our laboratories in Japan.

Your experience and skills:

  • PhD (or MSc with equivalent experience) in physics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field
  • Background in Quantum Information Theory is a plus
  • Proven track record of significant contributions to research projects in Quantum Computing or related areas
  • Strong programming skills and familiarity with quantum SDKs such as Qiskit, Pennylane, or pytket
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
