POSITION SUMMARY :

The Family Medicine Residency Associate Program Director (APD) is a vital member of the Family Medicine Residency leadership team, assisting the Program Director (PD) in overseeing the residency program. The APD's responsibilities include supporting program success, ensuring accreditation standards, mentoring residents, and participating in curriculum development. The role involves direct patient care supervision, faculty development, and strategic planning, reporting directly to the PD and supporting compliance with institutional and accreditation requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

  • Participate in academic societies and educational programs to enhance skills.
  • Assist in curricular development and innovation with the PD.
  • Serve on the Graduate Medical Education Sub-Committee reporting to Morehouse School of Medicine GMEC.
  • Lead or participate in the Program Evaluation Committee for strategic planning and quality improvement.
  • Contribute to resident evaluation processes as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee, and assist in developing individualized learning plans.
  • Collaborate on program development and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure program compliance with hospital policies and affiliated organizations.
  • Work with the PD to meet ACGME accreditation standards and pursue excellence.
  • Assist in scheduling resident rotations and negotiating with practice sites.
  • Participate in resident recruitment, selection, and faculty development activities.
  • Oversee scholarly and quality improvement projects, serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Engage in educational research and demonstration projects within the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to support institutional and community directives.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Combination of education and experience directly related to the role.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) with a valid, unrestricted California medical license and DEA number.
  • Board certification in Family Medicine by the American Board or the American Osteopathic Board.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Experience providing patient care in underserved areas.
