PhD Program is a collaborative initiative between SEAT and UPC University, focusing on strategic research projects.

SEAT is dedicated to quality research and exploring new areas of the future. We are seeking motivated candidates to join our teams.

Building on the SPAR3D Project, funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which demonstrates the technical feasibility of 3D metal printing of spare parts, this PhD aims to establish a business model that leverages 3D printing as a supply system for various materials and components in the automotive industry.

Project Description

Establish a digital spare parts business at SEAT through virtual twins and on-demand 3D printing. Develop a 3D printing guideline and characterize sustainable materials to close the loop, defining parameters and validation processes for suitable parts.

Objectives

Create a digital spare parts business with virtual twins and on-demand 3D printing. Methodology includes studying, designing, data collection, analysis, implementing 3D printing technologies, and fleet management software. Expected outcomes include inventory reduction, logistics efficiency, customization, and a localized production strategy near sales points to optimize logistics and reduce delivery times.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduates (240 ECTS) with a Master’s degree (minimum 60 ECTS)
  • Bachelor's and Master's in Chemistry, Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Average score above 6.5
  • Interest in business research
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Structured analytical problem-solving skills
  • Good communication, technical writing, critical analysis, and proactive work ability
  • Interest in the automotive sector (preferably car enthusiasts)
