Functions and Tasks:

A Lead Statistician builds and leads teams of statisticians and representatives from other functions, ensuring the use of appropriate and efficient statistical analysis methods during development, submission, and/or lifecycle management of Bayer products according to applicable standards, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The Lead Statistician also represents projects to line management and governance boards.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Take the statistical lead for a project in the represented Statistics Sub-Cluster, e.g., in the role of a Project Statistician.
  • Lead virtual teams of statisticians and/or representatives from other functions.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of project standards.
  • Provide statistical and methodological consultation and contribute to multidisciplinary teams within or across companies.
  • Respond to inquiries from health authorities and other internal or external partners.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and methodological issues and ensure their implementation within teams.
  • Influence decision-making processes during drug development and/or lifecycle management using appropriate statistical methodologies (e.g., simulations, meta-analyses, modeling approaches).
  • Develop and implement innovative statistical methodologies for the field of responsibility, in cooperation with academic experts if appropriate.

  • Type of contract: Permanent
  • Hours per week: 40h
  • Schedule: 9h to 18h, Hybrid
  • Gross annual remuneration: Within the Offices and Offices Agreement, according to interview.
Qualifications:

PhD or MS in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Mathematics. At least four years of experience as a statistician in Pharma, Biotech, or similar sector. Thorough knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, clinical drug development, and regulations. Experience in leading teams. Embrace and role model VACC behaviors (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) in leadership, with mentoring/coaching skills across diverse cultures. Experience in multiple relevant fields. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Good knowledge of statistical programming languages (SAS and/or R). Fluency in English.
