The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching near Munich is a world leader in the field of ground-based and space-based experimental astronomy. The institute develops and operates state-of-the-art astronomical instruments for this purpose. The technical fields of electronics and mechanics play a fundamental role in this.
The IT group manages and maintains the IT infrastructure and central IT services of the institute. It also develops scientific software and applications for ongoing scientific projects as well as specific control software for detectors and satellites under construction.
