General Description

The Junior Environmental Specialist supports environmental and permitting activities for renewable energy projects in various stages, including development, construction, and operation. The role involves assisting with project acquisitions or sales and coordinating with consultants and internal teams to navigate environmental studies and permitting processes.

Responsibilities

1. Support the Business Development team in implementing policies to ensure timely permitting and compliance across project stages.
2. Build and maintain relationships with permitting authorities at local and national levels.
3. Conduct environmental due diligence on potential projects.
4. Develop environmental studies in collaboration with internal teams such as Legal, Engineering, and Finance.
5. Prepare schedules and budgets for environmental studies.
6. Coordinate permitting processes using internal and external resources.
7. Manage permit applications, represent Finerge in hearings, and document permit conditions.
8. Ensure permit compliance during construction and operation.
9. Assist in developing documentation plans for permit compliance of operational facilities.

Professional Experience

1-4 years of experience in environmental compliance for energy projects; knowledge of biodiversity issues related to wind and solar projects is preferred. Experience with policy development and proficiency in Microsoft Office and ESRI ArcGIS are required.

Academic Requirements

Degree in Engineering or Environmental Science; a master's degree is a plus.
