Who You'll Work With

The OpenConfig team, responsible for building a dynamic, programmable data center infrastructure using software-defined networking principles like declarative configuration and model-driven management.

What You'll Do

Our engineering team designed a new networking operating system based on three principles :

• State orientation
• Open standards-based approach
• Single software image consistency

State Orientation

Uses a multi-process state-sharing architecture with a central database, enabling module independence, resiliency, and stability. It employs a publish / subscribe model for data access, contrasting with legacy IPC or message passing methods.

EOS is built on an unmodified Linux kernel, providing full access to Linux utilities and supporting containers and VMs, which simplifies deployment and enhances DevOps practices.

Provides a unified software image across all products, reducing operational complexity and costs, and enabling seamless automation and CI pipelines with tools like Ansible or Terraform.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering and Computer Science fundamentals
• Extensive experience with algorithms and software architecture
• 5+ years of fluency in C / C++ / Python
• Hands-on experience in product-engineering environments
