What are we looking for?

For our specialized team, we are seeking a Scala Spark Senior Software Engineer to implement risk model engines and processes with complex calculations for creating regulatory reporting data sets. The ideal candidate has critical thinking skills, capable of performing technical analysis on requirements provided via SAS code.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle and will be expected to produce efficient, best-practice compliant, and maintainable deliverables.

Work location:

100% remote, within Spain.

Job responsibilities / role:
  1. Spark / Scala development including automated testing and data controls.
  2. Deployments via pipelines.
  3. Documentation of developments, changes, and testing approaches.
  4. Ensuring team compliance with technical designs and alignment with best practices.
Mandatory skills:
  1. Experience supporting, mentoring, and guiding junior developers, including providing guidance on best practices, technical solutions, peer reviews, and testing documentation.
  2. Implementation and management of scalable big data infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  3. Expertise in AWS services such as EMR, EC2, Lambda, Step Functions, and Glue.
  4. Comprehensive experience with Big Data Technologies, including Hadoop, Spark/Scala, and NoSQL databases in a regulatory environment.
  5. Practical experience designing and monitoring batch processes.
  6. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
  7. Experience working with code repositories like GIT and Maven.
  8. Familiarity with deployment tools and project management tools like Jira.
Nice to have skills:
  1. Analytical skills to translate technical requirements for non-technical partners and create test scenarios.
  2. Advanced SQL knowledge for testing changes and replicating code functionality.
  3. Experience in data and process analysis to create specification documents.
  4. Financial services or banking experience, with an understanding of retail, business, and corporate banking sectors.
  5. Solid experience with Control-M for job creation and parameter modification.
Qualities:
  1. Goal-oriented with attention to detail.
  2. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  3. Calm under pressure and capable of multitasking.
Number of years of experience:
  • 5+ years
  • University degree in technology, preferably in computer science.
