Offer Description

IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrical Systems Unit, seeking talented and motivated candidates to work on control solutions for renewable energy and storage grid integration using Virtual Power Plants.

Tasks Description :

  • Research and Development in control systems for renewable energy sources and energy storage in electricity networks.
  • Modeling and design of primary and secondary controllers for Virtual Power Plants (VPPs).
  • Modeling of electrical distribution networks with VPPs and development of grid ancillary services.
  • Implementation and proof of concept of control algorithms in a Power HIL environment (Smart Energy Integration Lab).
  • Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals.

Qualifications :

  • Official Master Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering, Control Systems, or similar.
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering, Control Systems, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Power Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, and Industrial Communications.

Specific Requirements :

  • Knowledge in System Modeling, Power Networks, Renewable Energy Technologies, IT technologies, and Real-Time Control systems.
  • Knowledge of assessment tools for power network stability.
  • Experience in modeling power networks, renewable energy sources, and energy storage systems in Matlab / Simulink and DigSilent PowerFactory.
  • Experience with Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and Power-Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) platforms.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).

Additional Information

  • The contract includes all benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
  • Duration of the contract : 1 year, with the possibility of annual renewals depending on performance.
