What will you do?
As a Process Safety Expert specializing in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Risk Assessment & Management, you will lead specific workstreams within a broader Process Safety Management (PSM) / Operational Risk Management (ORM) transformation program, focusing on identifying, designing, and implementing effective solutions. You will provide subject matter expertise and lead project teams to establish and sustain robust Risk Assessment and PHA programs, building organizational capabilities.
The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in PHA and Risk Assessment Programs, with excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills to guide client teams and manage organizational change.
Knowledge of broader PSM elements will be advantageous.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
· Driving the execution of consulting engagements in PHA and Risk Assessment & Management, ensuring client requirements and expectations are met or exceeded, delivering value.
o Structuring project activities and developing detailed implementation plans, considering links with other workstreams like Management of Change, Mechanical Integrity, etc.
o Providing expertise on PHA and Risk Assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, What-If, Layer of Protection Analysis, Safety Integrity Level, Quantitative Risk Assessment, etc.).
o Leading client teams through various project stages, including gap analysis, planning, review, and capability building via training and coaching.
o Communicating progress and outcomes effectively to stakeholders.
o Identifying and addressing issues and risks proactively to ensure project success.
· Contributing to proposal development and supporting team members in client meetings and presentations.
· Participating in firm development by sharing best practices, coaching junior colleagues, and developing IP such as white papers and PoV documents.
Who are you?
· Extensive knowledge and practical experience with PHA techniques (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, What-If, LOPA, Bow-Tie, etc.).
· Experience with quantitative techniques like Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, and Quantitative Risk Assessment is a plus.
· Broad understanding of PSM system elements and how they interlink.
· Experience developing procedures, audit protocols, KPIs, and governance mechanisms.
· Skilled in delivering training and coaching on PSI / PHA topics.
· Ability to apply methodologies across asset lifecycle stages.
· Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
· Proven experience in hazardous industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, or Metal Processing, with background in technical roles and experience in major international companies preferred.
Qualifications / Experience:
· BS/BA in engineering or equivalent; MSc or MBA preferred with substantial PHA experience.
· Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, capable of working in multicultural environments.
· Fluency in English; additional European languages are advantageous.
· Willingness to travel extensively across Europe (up to 80%).
The role is remote-based and can be located in Spain, UK, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, or Belgium.
