Position: Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Content Services technology team, you will work with technologies such as AWS, service mesh, Kafka, data lake storage, GenAI, real-time news systems, automation, web scraping, and data extraction. You will participate in modernizing our real-time news and content systems that support products like Newswires, Factiva, and The Wall Street Journal. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, designing, developing, testing, and deploying high-quality solutions using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
2. Utilize technologies including AWS Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Istio, Envoy, Jaeger, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka, GenAI, Terraform, Chef, Jenkins, JSON, XML, MySQL, and other relational databases.
3. Investigate, analyze, evaluate, and prototype to assess project feasibility.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders to manage scope, deliverables, and timelines.
5. Provide feedback, guidance, and training to management and stakeholders.
6. Work effectively with agile teams across different locations and cultures.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience building high-performance backend systems.
• At least 3 years of experience with Java.
• Experience with TCP/IP socket programming and other network protocols.
• Experience deploying, troubleshooting, and supporting multi-region, multi-environment systems with CI/CD, high availability, and disaster recovery.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
