ContourGlobal is an established Independent Power Producer developing, acquiring, and operating electricity generation assets worldwide. With a current share of renewables capacity of 27%, the company has committed to speed up the decarbonization of its portfolio with a sustainable transition of its thermal fleet, the repowering of existing renewable assets and the organic development of new renewable projects. ContourGlobal, a KKR company since 2022, has a track record of almost 20 years of experience in partnering with communities, institutions, and customers that benefit from its power supply through long-term contracts or innovative PPAs, coupled with energy management solutions.

The BESS Energy Manager will be responsible for managing ContourGlobal’s portfolio of merchant battery storage and hybrid assets in EU (and eventually supporting other regions). This is a unique opportunity to step into the management of an existing battery storage platform that is projected to grow to over 600 MW by the next couple of years.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

• Set-up the proper configuration of BESS and hybrid projects from advanced construction phase to effective COD from a commercial perspective, ensuring required communication between EMS, dispatching and access to all available energy/capacity markets.
• Conduct the selection and implementation of the individual optimal scheme for algorithmic trading among all available solutions in the market/country.
• Monitor and analyze market information to identify dispatching and trading opportunities to maximize profitability.
• P&L responsibility for the assets including reporting results to upper management and third-party investors.
• Execute transactions for Capacity, Energy, GoOs, and Ancillary service products to hedge revenues where appropriate.
• Work closely with Middle Office and rest of EM&CO team to improve ContourGlobal’s forecasting and optimization models, back cast different strategies and improve reporting.
• Work closely with asset managers and O&M providers to ensure proper processes are in place for outage reporting and that contract obligations are being met.
• Support the business development and origination teams by reviewing third party forecasts and incorporating lessons learned from operations into valuation models.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Relevant academic background in engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in either electricity market trading/operations or energy related commodity trading, including 2+ demonstrable experience with operational BESS projects.
• Detailed understanding of power market fundamentals, market rules and the different products that drive battery storage revenues.
• Understanding of the modelling techniques used to value and optimize merchant generation assets.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented and with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills combined with a problem-solving attitude.
• Willingness to travel within EU (Italy and SE region) for site visits and coordination with local teams and third parties as necessary.
• Fluent English is a must – written and verbal. Spanish and Italian are great advantage as well.

The salary range is indicative and will depend on the experience and training of the candidate who applies for the selection process.
