Offer Description

Context And Mission

The mission of the Computer Science Department at the BSC is to influence how machines are built, programmed, and used : computer and system architecture, programming models and performance tools, resource management, Big Data, and artificial intelligence. The HPAI (High-Performance Artificial Intelligence) research group is part of the Computer Science department, performing research in AI, focusing on solutions, problems, and infrastructure provided by High-Performance Computing. The group collaborates with researchers from various fields and industry partners, working on large language models, agent systems, explainability, and ethics.

The post holder will contribute to AIXPERT, a European project aimed at making AI systems more explainable, robust, and trustworthy, particularly those based on agents and agentic components. Responsibilities include developing tools and infrastructure involving LLMs, multi-agent systems, knowledge graphs, and RAG, within a high-performance computing environment.

Key Duties

• Design and develop software solutions for the AIXPERT project.
• Build and maintain core platform components : agent systems, explainability features, RAG-based memory, APIs.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand platform needs and plan tasks.
• Test the platform across various use cases.
• Participate in research and dissemination activities related to BSC’s contributions.
• Qualifications : Master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in AI.
• Essential Skills and Experience :

Strong programming skills, especially in Python.

• Experience in software engineering, machine learning workflows, CI / CD, and project management.
• Additional Skills :

Knowledge of software architecture trends, research dissemination, frontend development (React, Typescript), LLMs, prompt design, agent systems, knowledge graphs, explainable AI, English proficiency.

Research exploration, communication, teamwork.
