IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher with a PhD related to Economics, Applied Economics or Agricultural Economy to join the Agrifood Economics Program. We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities on socioeconomic analysis of issues related to the production, processing, and consumption of food products, as well as the interactions of the food system with natural resources and the environment.

Program Details

• Head of the Program: Dr Jose Mª Gil
• Position: Full-time (37.5 h/week)
• Terms of appointment: Permanent or IRTA Consolida (tenure track), depending on qualifications and experience
• Salary: To be determined based on qualifications and experience
• Benefits: 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work conciliation, 45 hours of personal time, Friday afternoon off, summer schedule from 15/06 to 15/09, conciliation schedule

Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Contribute to acquiring R+D+I economic funds from public institutions and private agreements within the agro-food sector.
2. Write scientific papers and reports; participate in technology transfer and advisory activities for public and private sectors.
3. Develop and maintain contacts with potential users of R+D+i activities along the food supply chain; participate in dissemination activities.
4. Supervise PhD and master theses to contribute to human capital formation in agro-food economics.

Required Qualifications and Experience

1. PhD in Economics, Applied Economics, or Agricultural Economics
2. Experience in participating in national and/or European competitive projects
3. At least 7 publications in Impact factor journals (JCR, SCOPUS) as first or last author, in Economics or Agricultural Economics
4. Proficiency in English (Spanish not required)

Desirable Skills

1. Knowledge of quantitative methods (econometric models, time series, mathematical programming) applied to agricultural and food policies and markets
2. Understanding of microeconomic theory and agricultural and food policies
3. Experience with agricultural and food databases at various levels

Languages

• English proficiency essential
• Knowledge of Catalan and Spanish valued
