We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca set to open in spring 2025.

Surrounded by natural beauty, the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca spreads over 3 hectares of landscaped cliff tops and gardens cascading down to the sea, where it offers unique access to two coves surrounded by crystalline waters. The property is ideally located within Calvià, one of the most exclusive municipalities of the island, and close to key attractions such as the Portals port, the historical landmarks of the capital Palma de Mallorca, and the international airport.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will feature 131 guestrooms, including 44 suites and nine bungalows located just a few steps from the waterfront. The spacious accommodation will provide full or partial sea views, outdoor terraces or balconies, some of which offer private panoramic plunge pools. A comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer the Group’s signature wellness therapies and beauty treatments, with a focus on local nature-inspired programmes. The spa includes an indoor swimming pool, while three outdoor pools are located across the resort. Guests will also have access to a wide range of water-sports as well as a comprehensive Children’s Club.

As a Director of Finance, you will provide leadership and guidance in all matters relating to the financial operation of the hotel. You will develop and deliver accurate and timely financial reports to assist management decision making process and maintain internal control procedures designed to safeguard owners / investors assets and ensure compliance with country and local regulations.

During the pre-opening phase, the Director of Finance will be responsible for drafting and assembling the pre-opening budget, driving the Finance divisional critical path including recruitment of the Finance team, process structuring and MO standards compliance.

The Director of Finance will be responsible for the following duties :

• Direct, manage and support the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of all financial controls and accounting procedures, based upon a maximization of internal control techniques consistent with the Hotel and the company.
• Actively involved in the search for opportunities to improve the profitability of the hotel and encourage the preparation of exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.
• Manage / oversee the accounting department to ensure optimal efficiency of financial operations and adherence to the Hotel commitments to management contracts.
• Supervise preparation of all financial reports, ledger reviews and forecasts according to the established schedule, for distribution of operational information necessary to assist management in decision-making and budget preparation processes.
• Monitor revenues / expenses and ensure accurate recording of information to the Hotel established guidelines.
• Establish and oversee / audit all internal financial controls to include purchasing, cash handling, receipts, disbursements, expendable / fixed asset inventories, payroll and employee records to ensure policies are enforced according to the Hotel standards and local law.
• Assist management in the capital planning process by providing appropriate ROI information as well as coordinate the development of the Annual Budget and Monthly Forecasts.

What are we looking for?

• Extensive Financial Controller experience in Hospitality Accounting operations, a portion of which ideally in the luxury sector.
• Effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills.
• Ability and proven experience to generate all financial reports, including profit & loss statement, income statement, etc.
• Ability to assemble, analyse, understand integrated spreadsheets and complex technical information.
• Excellent communication skills both written and spoken in English and Spanish as well as strong presentation skills.
• Prioritisation skills necessary to meet deadlines.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and proficiency in systems such as Opera, Sun, Delphi, Hyperion and Micros System preferred.
