Job Title : Bottling Line Maintenance Mechanic

Department : Maintenance

Reports To : Maintenance Manager

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Summary : Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• The primary function of this position is to test, calibrate, install, repair and inspect bottling machinery.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines. Repairs electrical equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities : This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education, License & Requirements :

• Associates Degree in related field; or four (4+) years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of database software, Intranet and Internet software, WMS Warehouse Management Systems.
• Experience in Microsoft Office : Outlook, Excel, Word and Access.
• Excellent communication / interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact with a diverse employee population and with internal / external customers in an effective, professional manner.
• Excellent conflict resolution skills, diplomacy, and tact.
• Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze and interpret common / technical journals and drawings / diagrams, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to manage multiple projects / repairs simultaneously, set priorities, pro-actively resolve challenges in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume food production / manufacturing facility.
• Prior working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, USDA and EPA regulations.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Other Qualifications :

• Must provide own tools in a locking tool chest.
• Previous beverage manufacturing experience is helpful. Knowledge of PLC's, mechanical systems, electronic control circuitry, motors, hydraulic systems, ammonia systems, boilers, pumps most helpful. Rotating shifts, some weekends.
