A leading company in the commodities sector is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Northwest Spain. The role involves providing geotechnical risk management expertise and leading civil engineering for residue operations. Formación

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

Redstone Commodity Search is working with a major metal’s producer looking to hire a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the team in Spain.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Provide geotechnical risk management expertise to the firm’s residue facility, ensuring compliance with the firm’s policy and best international practices.
  • Lead civil engineering for residue operations, offer technical approvals, and guide the design and construction of residue projects while liaising with other members.
  • Maintain and update instrumentation and monitoring systems for residue areas, ensuring adherence to health and safety, as well as country regulations.
  • Contribute to residue master planning and act as the responsible Tailings facility Engineer, fostering best practice transfer and supporting the site.
  • Role reports to Maintenance and Reliability Manager.

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in geotechnical / tailings dam design, construction, or operation, with expertise in dam stability assessments and critical state soil mechanics.
  • Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Mining engineering.
  • Strong understanding of tailings management standards (ANCOLD, MAC, CDA, GISTM), soil / tailing characterizations, and monitoring systems.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Relocation to Northwest Spain is required; the company can assist with this.
