OBJECTIVES
- Development of Total Water Management (TWM) opportunities: partners with the project development team to provide project engineering support by developing process flow sheets, preparing proposals & estimates, and providing technical/commercial support at client meetings.
- Project management of TWM projects: leads the execution phase, guiding the project team and sub-vendors, with responsibility for project KPIs (cost, time performance); supervises commissioning, start-up, and handover of the plant to the O&M team.
- Supports O&M (Operation & Maintenance) team for troubleshooting and continuous improvement in existing TWM contracts.
- Builds long-term relationships with internal and external customers by understanding their key business drivers; high emotional intelligence is required.
RECOMMENDED PROFILE
- Education: Degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in designing and supporting the sale of water and/or wastewater equipment and systems, including clarification, filtration, membrane separation, RO/UF, DAF, solids separation, metals removal, and biological processes for industrial clients.
- At least 5 years' proven experience in project execution.
- Familiarity with water treatment plant commissioning and start-up.
- Fluent in English and French, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Commercial mindset with financial acumen.
- Synthesis and pragmatic approach.
- Able to manage conflicts and work under pressure.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time for project discovery, development, and presentation of solutions.
- High proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD required).
Principal Accountabilities
- Report functionally to the TWM Engineering Manager within the Commercial Engineering organization.
- Based in France with regular contact with the supervisor.
- Proficient in a wide range of water treatment technologies and experienced in designing water treatment systems, including preparing mass balances, flow sheets, water mapping, equipment selection, costing, and supporting commercial discussions.
- Familiar with engineering drawings (P&ID, general arrangements, isometric sketches, data sheets, troubleshooting lists, electrical and automation diagrams).
- Ability to analyze water and wastewater systems from mechanical, operational, and chemical perspectives and propose compliant solutions.
- Proactively collaborates with clients and colleagues to determine project needs and evaluate business models for wastewater and pretreatment operations, developing project specifications.
- Supervises or conducts site surveys, conceptual and basic design, ensuring optimal technical and economic solutions balancing OPEX and CAPEX.
- Uses technical expertise and financial knowledge to support project qualification, prioritizing projects with high success potential.
- Ensures project budgets are adhered to and communicates with peers and managers regarding issues during execution, seeking improvements.
- Communicates effectively with all levels within Nalco and external stakeholders (clients, contractors).
- Has some experience with plant operation & maintenance.
- Maintains customer relationships, addressing technical and business issues, and supports contract renewals.
- Assists with troubleshooting, diagnostics, and improvements in existing O&M contracts.
- Familiar with international standards and norms for equipment construction and certification.
- Aware of safety and environmental legislation.
