Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager

Join Canonical as an Embedded Linux Field Engineering Manager.

Role Overview: Lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services, assisting customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery.

Location: This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and develop a team of Field Engineers across Presales and Professional Services.
2. Promote our technologies and serve as a trusted advisor to customers.
3. Manage remote team operations within a single major time zone.
4. Mentor team members and provide career development feedback.
5. Track and improve team health indicators.
6. Implement disciplined engineering processes.
7. Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
8. Develop and promote best engineering and organizational practices.
9. Plan and oversee progress on goals and projects.
10. Collaborate with other leaders as part of the leadership team.

Candidate Profile:

• Strong academic background from high school through university.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar).
• Proficiency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
• Experience managing small teams.
• Experience engaging with customers.
• Fluent in professional English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
• Results-driven with a personal commitment to meet objectives.
• Ability to communicate technological benefits in business terms.
• Quick learner and humble in approach.

Desirable traits include RTOS experience, multilingual skills, and experience working in remote, diverse teams.
