Introduction To The Vacant Position

The Smart Nano-Bio-Devices Group is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support research activities involving nanoparticles, nanosystems, and nanomotors in bioengineering, biotechnological, and biomedical applications.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

1. Synthesis of micro- and nanoparticles (inorganic and organic) and assistance in synthesis for group members.
2. Support for projects related to 3D printing.
3. Maintenance of analytical and characterization tools, with responsibilities based on candidate’s skills.
4. Sample preparation and characterization using microscopy techniques such as SEM and TEM.
5. Lab organization, reagent and equipment ordering in coordination with technicians and the Group Leader.
6. Introduction of new lab members to facilities and rules, managing equipment reservation calendars, and training users.
7. On-boarding and check-out of group members.
8. Management of lab spaces and computers.
9. Act as contact between researchers and external departments/distributors, maintenance, security, secretary, and other IBEC units (IT, Core Facilities, Safety, Finances, Communications).
10. Ensure lab safety compliance.

Essential Requirements

• Degree in chemistry, nanoscience and nanotechnology, nanomaterials, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
• Knowledge in nanoparticle synthesis (inorganic or organic) and characterization techniques (DLS, Z-potential, spectroscopy, etc.).
• Strong communication, teamwork, commitment, proactivity, integrity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in English.

Advantageous Qualifications

• Experience supporting research groups in international labs.
• Experience with electron microscopy (SEM, TEM).
