MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Linguist performs quality control, transcreation, and on-demand translation tasks on assigned accounts/projects; coordinates the activities of a group of translators (internal and/or freelancers); ensures work is performed to high standards within deadlines and quality benchmarks; and ensures adherence to the Language Process by the project team.

MAIN DUTIES
  1. Perform quality control tasks on assigned projects (EN > [language])
  2. Perform transcreation, translation, and post-editing tasks (EN > [language])
  3. Perform other linguistic tasks (EN > [language])
  4. Prepare, manage, and maintain language materials (glossaries, Style Guides, work instructions) up to quality standards and current
  5. Interact with clients on linguistic matters as required
  6. Develop and train new and existing freelancers according to project needs
  7. Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors as needed
  8. Ensure good team interaction and resolve terminology and language questions
  9. Participate in developing improved working processes
  10. Achieve goals set by the French Team Lead
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS
  • University degree in Translation/Applied Languages and 3+ years of relevant experience as a translator and/or reviewer
  • Fluent in French (native level), both written and spoken; fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Experience as a translator in: Mobile Apps, Search Engines, IT Consumer Products, Entertainment, Marketing, Software UI, Websites
  • Excellent language skills (source/target)
  • Strong knowledge of terminology in IT consumer products, social media, entertainment
  • Thorough understanding of the localization process
  • Proficient with standard software (Windows, Office), CAT tools (e.g., SDL Studio), and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA)
  • Quick learner of new localization tools and applications
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Provides clear, constructive feedback; strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective at presenting information and responding to questions from managers, clients, and colleagues
  • Capable of solving practical problems with limited standardization
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in different formats
  • Willingness to train and pass on knowledge to others
  • Positive communication with customers at various levels
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual team
