Your new role

This flexible, fully remote role is within the Design team in the central Product organization. The successful candidate will understand problems and craft impactful solutions for researchers in large enterprise and corporate R&D organizations. This is an exciting opportunity to influence design practices at Digital Science and positively impact global science.

We are looking for a senior, strategic designer experienced in complex, regulated environments, who enjoys creating meaningful impact and collaborating across teams. The role involves tackling organizational efficiency, enterprise workflows, collaborative writing, group access management, and unique design challenges influenced by AI.

Please note : We may close this position early if we receive high application volumes. Only candidates residing in the UK, Spain, Germany, or Romania will be considered.

What you’ll be doing

• Partner and collaborate effectively with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams in cross-functional squads, supported by the Design team.
• Own product discovery using qualitative and quantitative methods to generate fast insights.
• Bring clarity to ambiguous design problems through conceptual design, experience mapping, and information architecture, facilitating remote workshops.
• Rapidly prototype, co-create, and evaluate product experiences that are pragmatic and simple within constraints.
• Develop engineering-ready systematic design using modern tools, adhering to enterprise accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2AA).
• Measure and communicate design outcomes with analytics.
• Share domain, user, and product knowledge across teams.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Experience delivering strategic UX within enterprise, life sciences, high-tech R&D, or similar complex domains.
• Ability to manage end-to-end human-centered design processes independently or collaboratively.
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research, and facilitating co-design workshops with senior stakeholders.
• Skilled in rapid prototyping with tools like Figma.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508).
• Curiosity about leveraging AI responsibly in design.
• Excellent visual communication and storytelling skills.
• Ability to balance scope, speed, and quality effectively.
• Collaborative, humble, and consultative mindset.
• Experience mentoring designers, working on service design, AI interactions, data visualization, or inclusive design is a plus.
