IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher with a PhD related to Economics, Applied Economics, or Agricultural Economics to join the Agrifood Economics Program. We invite applications from ambitious candidates with relevant research experience and a passion for conducting research and innovation activities on socioeconomic analysis of issues related to the production, processing, and consumption of food products, as well as the interactions of the food system with natural resources and the environment.

• Head of the Program : Dr. Jose Ma Gil
• Position Type : Full-time, 37.5 hours / week
• Terms of Appointment : Permanent or IRTA Consolida (tenure track), depending on qualifications and experience
• Gross Annual Salary : To be determined based on qualifications and experience
• Benefits : 22 vacation days, 3 days of family & work reconciliation, 45 hours of personal time, Friday afternoons off, compressed summer schedule from 15 / 06 to 15 / 09, and reconciliation schedule

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Contribute to securing R+D+I economic funds from public institutions (competitive calls) and private agreements within the agro-food sector.
• Publish scientific papers and reports based on research activities and participate in technology transfer and advisory activities for public and private sectors.
• Develop and maintain contacts with potential users of R+D+i activities along the food supply chain and participate in dissemination activities.
• Supervise PhD and master's theses on agro-food economics to contribute to human capital development.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• PhD in Economics, Applied Economics, or Agricultural Economics
• Experience in participating in national and / or European projects from competitive calls
• At least 7 publications in Impact factor journals (JCR, SCOPUS) in Economics or Agricultural Economics as first or last author
• Proficiency in English (knowledge of Spanish is not mandatory)
• Knowledge of quantitative methods (econometric models, time series econometrics, mathematical programming) applied to agricultural and food policy modeling
• Strong understanding of microeconomic theory and agricultural and food policies
• Experience with agricultural and food databases at various levels (local to international)

Languages

• Proficiency in English
• Knowledge of Catalan and Spanish is advantageous
